Price update

We often receive new price lists from our manufacturers and have to adjust our own prices as a result. This process becomes a routine task with the help of a template and can be completed in a few minutes at any time.

Initial situation: We have received a new price list from our manufacturer and need to check as soon as possible to what extent prices have to be adjusted or can be maintained.

Objective: Adjust prices as quickly as possible based on manufacturer prices

Procedure​

Step 1: Open price data in Excel​

Open the newly received price data in Excel.

Step 2: Load only the manufacturer data​

Load only the manufacturer's store data into the same Excel workbook.

Step 3: Add 3 help columns​

Add three help columns in the respective attribute set in which the price should be updated (or in All Products if this step should happen for all products across attribute sets).

  • Manufacturer price

Formula: =IFERROR(INDEX(new_prices[Manufacturer price];EVALUATION([@Manufacturer article number];new_prices[Manufacturer article number];0));””)

  • Calculated manufacturer price

Use case: Our price is "always" 20% more expensive than the price we pay at the manufacturer. (If there is no regularity or price increase to such an extent, this help column can also be omitted).

Formula: =1,2*[@Manufacturer price]

  • Price update

Formula: =[@Price]\[@[calculated manufacturer price]]

1. Filter the "Price update" column by the value "True".

2. These prices must then be updated.

All the prices that you have updated/adjusted will take the value "False" in the "Price update" column after updating. When all the products in the "Price Update" column have the value "False", you are done.

Step 4: Save products​

With "Save products" you finish the process of price updating.

Optional: Create templates​

Since this process is recurring, you can create a template. This should contain only these columns:

  • website
  • SKU
  • manufacturer article number
  • price
  • your 3 created help columns

You can hide the remaining columns for clarity. Move all columns to the end of the table (Shift & click several columns → right-click → select "Cut") and mark them. Then right-click and select "Hide".

Finally, you can save the template for the next price update via the drop-down menu at "Load products" → Template → "Save ".
